Entitlements

I like sharp points, if no-one else posts here this is what you will get.

  1. What's wrong with calling Social Security an entitlement? An entitlement is something you're entitled to, i.e., something you've earned. The questionable thing is whether all the Congressional benefits are truly entitlements.

  2. US definitions:
Entitlement programs can be broken into non-contributory and contributory programs. Non-contributory programs are free handouts - they equal "something for nothing". Contributory programs must be earned - they equal "something for something".

    1. If contributory OR noncontributory can be an entitlement, then Speaker Ryan hasn't misspoken, has he?
