Positive Win Win with Dave

Remarkable changes from six years ago. Dave Israel brought in Sunshine laws, open meetings, committee transparency, computerization of records (now paperless), organization and future planning. Meetings can also be seen on video on Channel 63 and on the Blog. Records can now be found with the push of a button.
Dave improved communications among all of the Officers of UCO, also communications with the various Associations and the residents of Century Village. Dave developed an email system within UCO and over the years extended it to the Associations.
Dave has sent out thousands of Minutes of meetings and Public Service Announcements to keep residents informed.

Dave is the most productive workaholic in CV and he is our protection from greed, ignorance, and poor planning. Win, Win, Win, Win, Win, Win!

Dave brought in Howard O'Brien who overhauled our archaic system, he brought in electronic bill pay and streamlined our banking methods. Now we are current, accurate, clear, and complete without need for folksy woffling about our pennies. Howard worked with major corporations and banks and was New York CPA 1973 - 2006. Thanks for nailing a CV embezzler Howard.

No Election Letters in the Reporter ?

I sent my letter in Jan 10 for Feb issue but was assured it would be in the March issue instead. I cannot find it!
Herewith:
As elections approach I want to say that Dave Israel's high personal integrity is the bedrock of our village. He is not seen a great deal in public, he is not out glad handing, but we know he is there for endless hours in UCO and at Delegate meetings. To know him is to have the greatest confidence in anything with which he is associated. He helps every and all associations, mine would have been much poorer without Dave's advice. UCO staff appreciate his outstanding abilities and his willingness to assist with any and all tasks. Do not let the malcontents try to burn down the structure of the village.
Nobody looks after CV better than Dave Israel. Nobody!

Sharp Points from Lanny

 Worth a second post:
Yesterday I saw the latest Messenger newsletter on our bulletin board, and I took it down to read. As usual, it was almost entirely negatives, bashing one person after another, with the UCO president, Dave Israel, of course, their prime scapegoat. Later I got to thinking, what if all this bashing and negativity were in the UCO Reporter?—for that is what the mals would like. I would venture to say not many residents would want to read the Reporter anymore!
I also got to thinking about the mals' whining and complaining about not being allowed to use the pools for their "rallies." The reason has been made clear: it's because these partisan meetings of a dozen to thirty people could very well be an unwelcome intrusion to those who want to be at the pools in order to relax and enjoy some quiet—the purpose of the pools in the first place.
Then I got to thinking: Dave Israel hasn't had any rallies at the pools (at least not in this election cycle), so it's not as though he HAS been allowed pool rallies during this campaign and the mals have not. So what's the big beef? And what's the big fuss about using the Clubhouse for the malcontent meetings and rallies? Dave hasn't had any such get-togethers at the Clubhouse during this election campaign that I'm aware of. His campaign meetings have been in homes.
Dave has one blog, and the mals have THREE. Dave doesn't have "Vote for Dave" signs up all over the place, but the mals do. To my knowledge, no Dave flyers have been put on bulletin boards—which are considered private property, for condo use only by some condo associations.
And I don't see how the mals can complain (though they do) about the delegate meetings. They have had more voice—strident, disruptive voices at that—than anybody! They go on and on, one after another up to the mike, while the "non-mals" (the sensibles) patiently put up with them, only emitting a collective groan every so often. The long-suffering sensibles, however, know how to have the last word—through their votes.

So what's the big beef? I'm beginning to think the mals are crybabies.

Reasonable Rules or ..

We just had an Annual Meeting, the main concern among the residents was that everyone should follow the rules, they want a safe and predictable association. That's fine.

But it makes me think of the malcontents who break every rule possible. They indulge in libel, slander, insults, ignore property lines, ignore Robert's Rules, disrupt meetings, hang banners and post signs where forbidden, ignore code, spread lies. They think their wishes can overrule everyone - and they think they could run a village, ouch! What a recipe for a corrupt mess.

Its HARD HARD

Keeping Century Village running is HARD HARD.  Even George knew more than empty noisy vessel malcontents.
How many work hours does Dave Israel put in for UCO, 60/week at least. Probably more. Dave is the smartest, most energetic worker for us. Dave keeps on working for us even tho' he has to put up with the Hate mongers. Do you want to be around good energy people, learn new things, vote for Dave. Volunteer in the Village.

Sound Barrier for Sussex / Turnpike

There was a question recently about a possible sound barrier along the Turnpike to reduce noise for the Sussex area. A few years ago we had a comprehensive presentation by the DOT. They explained that they only put up sound barriers as part of major improvements to the Turnpike such as increasing the number of lanes over a large area. At the time plans were being made for the Jupiter area. Work on the turnpike in southern Palm Beach County has been almost non-existent since the Great Recession hit.
Because of declining toll revenue, the turnpike canceled several construction projects in 2008. Work near the Lantana Toll Plaza and Lake Worth Road initially scheduled for 2009 was a top-priority turnpike project for the Palm Beach Metropolitan Planning Organization, the county's transportation planning agency. Now a study is planned for 2018 on widening the highway.
The science in the presentation was interesting. Apparently trees and bushes have a negligible effect on noise.
Also since sound waves curve, when there is a barrier only the home immediately adjacent to the barrier is helped. Noise then curves down to affect the rest of the village.
So Mr Sebastian, you could install double windows on your condo to reduce the noise that way. DOT may not come thru in our lifetimes.
(Watch the malcontents copy UCO's work on this and pretend they have done something.)

Aging Well

wrinkles mean you laughed,
grey hair means you cared,
scars mean you lived,

a well-run village economical, efficient, up-to-date, with terrific amenities, means you voted for Dave Israel for President of UCO.
