Time Before Dave

DO NOT let the Village go back, remember
Newbies, pay attention ...
If you have been here over 8 years you already know!!
CV History:
Misguided loyalties,
Single person committees
Closed meetings
Censorship
Lack of competition, repeat vendors
No bid review
Fear of technology
Dictatorial autocratic management
Maintenance ignored or postponed
Contract breaches
Ill-considered lawsuits
Do you remember those who are spewing hate at Dave now - they used to spew and sue the Levys. Got us nowhere and cost us a bunch. Remember.
Endless adversarial beatings are not a management technique for paradise.

Positive CV Future Services and nuts, bolts, and electronics

This 'Old Village' needs expert eyes on the future - risk reduction programs, disaster recovery protocols and related Infrastructure analysis. Dominick Guarnagia, Dave, and our CAM in training Donald Foster, have the skills and continuously prepare our plans.
For an accurate CV election there will be touch screen voting, then electronic clickers for Delegate Assembly voting. Onwards.

Bring back Team Dave, Dominick, and Donald Foster!

Positive Win Win with Dave

Remarkable changes from six years ago. Dave Israel brought in Sunshine laws, open meetings, committee transparency, computerization of records (now paperless), organization and future planning. Meetings can also be seen on video on Channel 63 and on the Blog. Records can now be found with the push of a button.
Dave improved communications among all of the Officers of UCO, also communications with the various Associations and the residents of Century Village. Dave developed an email system within UCO and over the years extended it to the Associations.
Dave has sent out thousands of Minutes of meetings and Public Service Announcements to keep residents informed.

Dave is the most productive workaholic in CV and he is our protection from greed, ignorance, and poor planning. Win, Win, Win, Win, Win, Win!

2.28.2016

Positive Solutions to Foreclosures with Team Dave

Dave and Ed Black used our good business relationship with WPRF to create an asset recovery project to help associations bring back defaulting units to being productive again. This innovative concept has spread to other Century Villages and has recovered 25 units here. Including one in my association. - Thank you Ed and Dave and WPRF. Bring back team Dave and Ed Black.

2.24.2016

Finance Positively Forward with Team Dave

Dave brought in Howard O'Brien who overhauled our archaic system, he brought in electronic bill pay and streamlined our banking methods. Now we are current, accurate, clear, and complete without need for folksy woffling about our pennies. Howard worked with major corporations and banks and was New York CPA 1973 - 2006. Thanks for nailing a CV embezzler Howard.

Let's continue Finance Dept efficiencies. Vote Howard O'Brien and Team Dave.

No Election Letters in the Reporter ?

I sent my letter in Jan 10 for Feb issue but was assured it would be in the March issue instead. I cannot find it!
Herewith:
As elections approach I want to say that Dave Israel's high personal integrity is the bedrock of our village. He is not seen a great deal in public, he is not out glad handing, but we know he is there for endless hours in UCO and at Delegate meetings. To know him is to have the greatest confidence in anything with which he is associated. He helps every and all associations, mine would have been much poorer without Dave's advice. UCO staff appreciate his outstanding abilities and his willingness to assist with any and all tasks. Do not let the malcontents try to burn down the structure of the village.
Nobody looks after CV better than Dave Israel. Nobody!

Sharp Points from Lanny

 Worth a second post:
Yesterday I saw the latest Messenger newsletter on our bulletin board, and I took it down to read. As usual, it was almost entirely negatives, bashing one person after another, with the UCO president, Dave Israel, of course, their prime scapegoat. Later I got to thinking, what if all this bashing and negativity were in the UCO Reporter?—for that is what the mals would like. I would venture to say not many residents would want to read the Reporter anymore!
I also got to thinking about the mals' whining and complaining about not being allowed to use the pools for their "rallies." The reason has been made clear: it's because these partisan meetings of a dozen to thirty people could very well be an unwelcome intrusion to those who want to be at the pools in order to relax and enjoy some quiet—the purpose of the pools in the first place.
Then I got to thinking: Dave Israel hasn't had any rallies at the pools (at least not in this election cycle), so it's not as though he HAS been allowed pool rallies during this campaign and the mals have not. So what's the big beef? And what's the big fuss about using the Clubhouse for the malcontent meetings and rallies? Dave hasn't had any such get-togethers at the Clubhouse during this election campaign that I'm aware of. His campaign meetings have been in homes.
Dave has one blog, and the mals have THREE. Dave doesn't have "Vote for Dave" signs up all over the place, but the mals do. To my knowledge, no Dave flyers have been put on bulletin boards—which are considered private property, for condo use only by some condo associations.
And I don't see how the mals can complain (though they do) about the delegate meetings. They have had more voice—strident, disruptive voices at that—than anybody! They go on and on, one after another up to the mike, while the "non-mals" (the sensibles) patiently put up with them, only emitting a collective groan every so often. The long-suffering sensibles, however, know how to have the last word—through their votes.

So what's the big beef? I'm beginning to think the mals are crybabies.

Reasonable Rules or ..

We just had an Annual Meeting, the main concern among the residents was that everyone should follow the rules, they want a safe and predictable association. That's fine.

But it makes me think of the malcontents who break every rule possible. They indulge in libel, slander, insults, ignore property lines, ignore Robert's Rules, disrupt meetings, hang banners and post signs where forbidden, ignore code, spread lies. They think their wishes can overrule everyone - and they think they could run a village, ouch! What a recipe for a corrupt mess.

Its HARD HARD

Keeping Century Village running is HARD HARD.  Even George knew more than empty noisy vessel malcontents.
How many work hours does Dave Israel put in for UCO, 60/week at least. Probably more. Dave is the smartest, most energetic worker for us. Dave keeps on working for us even tho' he has to put up with the Hate mongers. Do you want to be around good energy people, learn new things, vote for Dave. Volunteer in the Village.

Sound Barrier for Sussex / Turnpike

There was a question recently about a possible sound barrier along the Turnpike to reduce noise for the Sussex area. A few years ago we had a comprehensive presentation by the DOT. They explained that they only put up sound barriers as part of major improvements to the Turnpike such as increasing the number of lanes over a large area. At the time plans were being made for the Jupiter area. Work on the turnpike in southern Palm Beach County has been almost non-existent since the Great Recession hit.
Because of declining toll revenue, the turnpike canceled several construction projects in 2008. Work near the Lantana Toll Plaza and Lake Worth Road initially scheduled for 2009 was a top-priority turnpike project for the Palm Beach Metropolitan Planning Organization, the county's transportation planning agency. Now a study is planned for 2018 on widening the highway.
The science in the presentation was interesting. Apparently trees and bushes have a negligible effect on noise.
Also since sound waves curve, when there is a barrier only the home immediately adjacent to the barrier is helped. Noise then curves down to affect the rest of the village.
So Mr Sebastian, you could install double windows on your condo to reduce the noise that way. DOT may not come thru in our lifetimes.
(Watch the malcontents copy UCO's work on this and pretend they have done something.)

Aging Well

wrinkles mean you laughed,
grey hair means you cared,
scars mean you lived,

R U a Seenager

I am a Seenager. (Senior teenager)

I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 60 years later:

I don't have to go to school or work.

I get an allowance every month.

I have my own pad.

I don't have a curfew.

I have a driver's license and my own car.

I have an ID that gets me into bars and the wine store.
The people I hang around with are not scared of getting pregnant. They aren't scared of anything. They have been blessed to live this long so why be scared? And I don't have acne. Life is Good!
Happy 2016

Find Out If Your Doctor Takes Drug Company Money

"There is a reason pharmaceutical companies spend billions of dollars on the influencing, education, and entertainment of doctors around the world.

Thanks to Republican Senator Chuck Grassley, the Sunshine Act was inserted into Obamacare. And, so, for the first time, patients will now be able to see what, if any, financial ties their own doctor has. The database is live right now. Go to openpaymentsdata.cms.gov/search or for a more user-friendly version, Propublica’s Dollars for Docs page. The drug industry spends billions trying to influence doctors, and, for the first time, you can see if your physician, or any physician, has their hand out." How Many Veteran Charities Are Too Many?

Donors who want to make contributions towards charitable programs that serve the military and veterans face an almost overwhelming volume of choices with, by some accounts, the existence of over 40,000 nonprofit organizations dedicated to serving the military and veterans and an estimated 400,000 service organizations that in some way touch veterans or service members.

Real Life

Well I grew up in a real town
Where the prom queen had a plastic crown
And we really did just drive around
'Cause there wasn't sh*t to do
We didn't know we were real broke
Daddy rolled them real smokes
We drank RC, no real Coke
But our neighbor had a pool
We got green grass and two trees
Whoa oh oh oh oh
But it ain't like what's on TV
Whoa oh oh oh oh
This is real life in the real world
We ain't talking to no models
We got real girls
We get real low, we get real high
It ain't all good baby but it's all right
Real life
We got a dive bar
With a real band, they play too loud
And they're real bad
But we're real boys so we still dance
And we stay out way too late
Hit the Waffle House for some real food
But that waitress, she's real rude
She got real problems but we do too so we tip her anyway
That's just the way that it is
Whoa oh oh oh oh
That's just the way that we live
Whoa oh oh oh oh
This is real life in the real world
We ain't talking to no models
We got real girls
We get real low, we get real high
It ain't all good baby but it's all right
Real life
Yeah we're livin' real life

Delegate Assy Comment

Best comment at the Delegate Assy, Herb F -
"Be sensible, quit fighting over things that are good for you"

Silliest comments, mostly by malcontents. One of their refrains is that residents are not getting UCO information. Perhaps they forgot:
You can get questions answered at UCO
See list of open meetings every month
Delegate Assembly info packages
The enlarged UCO Reporter
Channel 63
The Blog 'Our Village in West Palm Beach'
Many taped meetings on the Blog and Channel 63
The sidebar of the Blog overflowing with information.
Meeting minutes and notices on the Information Forward Initiative (IFI - give Prez D. Israel your email if you are not receiving it)
Clubhouse flyers
All guided by Sunshine Laws

I feel the need for acronyms to shorten meetings

There was a lot of good useful info at the Delegate Assy yesterday, also much rambling by those trying to make UCO look bad (TTMULB). Malcontents make blanket statements full of emotional words (murder, baloney, not true, we prove...). These statements are themselves not true and need to get a short reply e.g. It is too full of nonsense (TFON). Read the Bylaws (RTB), References wrong, Logic wrong (RWLW).
Fausto handled one by saying 'I am not going to try to answer that' may I suggest TFON.
The TTMULB about the Officers Cmte emergency meeting was TFON, RTB. See Officers 'D.2 The President may call an emergency meeting at any time' - period. Other special mtgs of the Executive Board and Delegate Assembly do have some notice requirements. Officer emergency meetings do not. Even so anyone who was awake knew the search for a Recording Officer was on.

No doubt this post will trigger comments by malcontent blogs, but I NEVER read their toxic material.
