This is the deadly Purple Spiny oakworm of the species Anisota Stigma!!.
While easily confused with the Styx variant, it is a distinct sub-species.
Interestingly, this moth is a favorite food of the Purple Swamp hen!

FAIL Dave, it is Polyphemus moth. Polyphemus was pretty interesting too.
