BLOG WARS AND GUESSWORK

Who is “Eduardo,” and who is ghostwriting for Dave Israel? It’s interesting, the sheer guesswork that goes on in our opposing blogs.

I’m reminded of the “Who is John Galt?” question from the book Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand. At least in the end of that book there turned out to be a real John Galt. In our case many of the alleged realities are not realities at all. Sometimes they are more a “testing of the waters.” Sometimes they are simply wild fantasies or figments of the imagination, with one common purpose: denigrating the opposition in the eyes of the reader.

We get caught up in all this for sure. A certain someone just loves to come out with a whole new screed every day. “See me, see me!” the post fairly screams.

These are the days of the Blog Wars in Century Village. I wonder if the era will pass. I suppose it will.

  1. Isn't it interesting that Esther thinks I was referring to her in the above when there is no reference to her by name or even gender? It could just as well have been Gary.Is this characteristic of the self-absorbed or what?

    1. You find out at the end who John Galt is. He is a real person (in the book). I haven't known anything about the movies. I'm not particularly enthusiastic about Ayn Rand. I read her "Anthem" while here, because it was required school reading by one of my grandkids. It's a novella, far shorter than "Atlas Shrugged"--or, I suspect, "The Fountainhead," which I have not read. I could see similarities in "Atlas Shrugged" and "Anthem," but to go into them might spoil "A.S." for you.

Not sure when I will head back,Bob.. It's been cold here lately. The other day I thought for a moment of cutting the visit short to get to where it's warmer, but then someone told me it's been real HOT there in FL. I've become a weather sissy, I know. I think I'll head back in the middle of October, We are due to get warmer weather here in a day or two.

How is Sadie? I almost wrote "Sophie." Sophie is the companion dog my old boyhood friend Bob Maloney has. She was great for him just as Sadie has been for you.

      Hope this finds you well.

  4. Hi Lanny,

What are "earlaps"? I think they were worn by hod carriers during the construction of the Sistine Chapel. The project was led by Michelangelo, who was a real Architect, unlike the "earlap" wearing hod carriers who in fact knew nothing!

  5. Did something in this post br ing up earlaps? According to the dictionary, earlaps can mean earflaps (part of a cap covering the ears) or refer to the earlobe or the entire outer ear. (There, Watson, being in a good mood this morning, has done your research for you, Holmes.) But how does this come up? You aren't still trying to solve that Murder in the Sistine Chapel, are you? Better leave that one for Miss Marple. I would say.

  6. Hi Lanny,
    September 27, 2014 at 11:39 AM,

You must follow the entire zeitgeist of Malcontent BLOG drivel.
In this case the Postings of "Eduardo" who actually thinks himself an architect, and uses the term "earlaps" often; when in fact I suspect he might have been a hod carrier on the Sistine Chapel project.
    Just my opinion of course.

    1. I believe I did see an "earlaps" reference or two in a recent Eduardo post now that you mention it, but I am not going back to check on this. When checking the opposition blogs now, I find myself more and more just glossing over what is said, because it seems so same -old, same-old. It's a very rare thing that gets praised, and you (Dave) are the goat for all ills. Ho hum! I shouldn't wonder that others tire of it, too. I think if the sun didn't come up tomorrow, they would find a way to blame you. "Sure as can be it's that Israel again, tinkering with the 'cloud' again during the wee hours of the morning from his office at UCO." Hod carrier? Could be.
