When Cerabino is good he is very very good.
"Our Legislature thinks help for the truly needy is an extravagance we cannot afford, but corporate welfare is a pleasure."
Look at preventative dental care for poor kids in Florida, less than
1% of FL budget state administered medicaid program goes there. Next to WORST in whole USA.
But State of Florida will give Publix $3.5 million of your tax dollars for expansion, as well as an additional
$700,000 in local incentives to expand. Was this expansion of Publix
really contingent on a tax break. Florida has 1,000 new residents per
day + tourists.
By giving business the incentive to expand, does it not create jobs for those new 1000 residents a day? Does it not help keep people off the welfare rolls? JOBS decrease the welfare rolls, Jobs give the people the way to get medical and dental insurance.
ReplyDeleteI believe the point was that Publix expands all the time and does not need taxpayer dollar incentives to do so. Taxpayer dollars could be better used elsewhere.
